NC READY FOR REPUBLIC DECLARATION

Latest media reports have it that Nepal's Prime Minster is finally readying himself to declare the country a republic, however with the condition that King Gyanendra will continue occupying the Narayanhiti Royal Palace until election to the constitution assembly was conducted peacefully.
“Till a clear mandate from the election is obtained there is no point in evacuating the royal palace”, Koirala told select group of high ranking Nepali Congress leaders, say reports.
The Prime Minster has thus initiated various level of consultations, from legal to political as well, say reports.
Koirala, who is being pressurized from within the party ranks as well, is seriously considering the promulgation of a republic and the full proportional system of voting though the interim parliament, say reports further.
As reported Prime Minister Koirala who had late night telephone conversations with both CoAS Rukmangad Katuwal and the Indian Ambassador to Nepal has also received positive nods from both of them, say insiders.
“The nation is always above party benefits and there cannot be any thing above the nation… I am ready to take a bold decision now come what may”, told Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala to the attending NC high ranking leaders who had arrived at the PM’s official residence in Baluatar yesterday.
The attending leaders were Sher Bahadur Deuba, minister Ram Chandra Poudel and the officiating vice president of the NC, Mr. Sushil Koirala.
As reported, one of the leaders who attended the meet told that the Prime minister was ready to take any decision any time from now in order to save the country from going to the dogs.
Reports further say that Deuba and Sushil, however, took this Koirala’s out bursts very negatively. What does this mean? Keep on guessing!
Minister Poudel on the other hand supporting Koirala was reported to have said, “Time has matured enough and that the leadership should decide in favor of the republican order”. Minister Poudel is talked to have been representing that segment of the NC which prefers republican order over monarchy.
Unsubstantiated reports citing Maoist supremo Prachanda have it that, within merely ten days time, Nepal will be declared a republic for sure.
